Does it always need to be funny?

Do you mean funny ‘ha ha’ or funny ‘peculiar’? To be honest anything goes. To us it’s more about gaining an emotional response. It might make you laugh, equally it might make you cry or we could just simply blow peoples minds but the first step is to clear up what we mean by ‘viral’.

Ok yes it is, but we see viral elements in many other digital ideas. The ‘send to a friend’ button on a website to an unexpected text on your mobile phone are all part and parcel of ideas that have ‘viral’ qualities, so we at Altogether may well see things rather differently.

What we can tell you is at Altogether we think viral ideas are both a bit of art and a bit of careful planning. Success is nearly always down to proper consumer insight and a proper seeding strategy, so “No” just simply being funny isn’t enough (but it does definitely sometimes help).
