Ice Sculptures In Golden Square

I have a great many crosses that I have to bear & being a smoker is one of them. However, there are times when I’m glad of my trips outside to inhale nicotine & today was one of them.

Our office sits on Golden Square, which houses (much like Trafalgar Square) a number of empty plinths. Except that today they weren’t empty. Instead there were a number of intriguing ice sculptures sitting on them.

I spoke briefly to the sculptor & apparently they were to commemorate the 250th anniversary of William Blake’s birth, who was born in Golden Square. There aren’t many days where I hope that the sun won’t come out, but today was one. I’m guessing that they will have melted by now, but for all those who missed them, we’ve immortalised them here.

UPDATE: Day two and a couple of the sculptures are just hanging in.
