Skeletons, Nostalgia & Free Skis

Can you believe that it’s Friday already or that next week is November? No, me neither. Still rather than fret about how the year is rushing past, let’s look back at some of the interesting things we’ve seen this week, as well as looking forward to an extra hour in bed on Sunday.

This video that we found via Adgabber had us chuckling whilst also making most of us realise that we’ve been online for longer than we care to remember. The Internet Stars Are Viral brings together some of the most memorable viral phenomena of the internet era. Get an extra geek point for every one that you recognise.

Whilst we wouldn’t want you to get the wrong idea about us, we do sometimes manage to drag ourselves away from our monitors. And it was whilst I was on one of these (rare) forays into the real world that I stumbled onto something rather intriguing. If you head to Oxford Street in London you might find something rather strange. Just by Selfridges is what appears to be an empty shop; empty that is except for a skeleton on a chair & a URL. You can see an image of what you find at the website mentioned (thedeadroom.com) below. It seems to be nothing more than a web-cam showing the curious crowds passing by the store, but I’m sure that more will be revealed soon. Very intriguing!

As the weather gets colder, and the nights longer, many of you might be thinking of your winter holidays. Whilst we don’t like to plug things too much we really wanted to share this with you; ski & snowboard hire site Ski Republic will be launching in the next few weeks and promises to shake-up the market. And if you register your details on the site right now you could win a week’s free ski-hire. When you consider the price of a lift-pass that really shouldn’t be sniffed at. And nor should these, ahem, interesting photos of Danielle Lloyd standing next to a tank to announce the launch of the company.

The lovely people at New Media Age beat us at our own game and talked about the launch of our new affiliate network, Altogether Ads. We’re very excited about it and would have blogged about if we hadn’t been so busy launching it at the same time as exhibiting & speaking at the excellent a4u Expo.

Finally, today is a sad day at Altogether. Part of the furniture is leaving us. His name is Mark Wong (aka Wonky). Wonky worked with us for 3.5 years, was critical in DC Interact’s successful move from Edinburgh to London and has helped us stay on track with many key clients since they joined Altogether.

We’ll miss him dearly.

Good luck Wonky.

On the subject of that rather bizarro skeleton installation, it appears that it is touring other UK cities too, judging by the sighting below in Glasgow’s Gordon Street…
