Chinese Olympics Adverts from Nike?
I think that these efforts from Nike are fantastic adverts. Truly. I’m not even sure if they are for the Chinese Olympics in Beijing 2008 or not (my Chinese is rather rusty) but take a look at them:
What’s brilliant about them is that they look almost camcorder, hand held or naturalistic in their execution (I know the quality’s got something to do with that too!) They incorporate everyday life in China. Both of these make things seem accessible, aspirational, and brings the sport home to the people. And best of all is you clearly don’t need to have any linguistic skills to appreciate them or get their message (I got it & can only speak two words of Chinese!)
The Chinese Olympics in Beijing 2008 are going to be a huge event, and Beijing is a booming city at the moment. Advertising for the event could well be very impressive, and I can’t wait if this collection of work from Nike is just the start.
Advertising without borders, people. It’s the future!
