The End Of The Internet Is Nigh
Ever wondered what would happen if you ‘finished’ the web? If you read every single page, and looked at every single piece of content? Well if you ask Google to tell you what the scenario looks like, it will probably drive you to this site - The End Of The Internet. The text on the site reads:
The End of the Internet
Congratulations! This is the last page.
Thank you for visiting the End of the Internet. There are no more links.
You must now turn off your computer and go do something productive.
Go read a book, for pete’s sake.
Obviously the site is just a bit of a joke, and one that made us chuckle (and has probably done for thousands of people since it was set up back in the mid-90s). What’s interesting though is that according to its Whois record, the registration for the page is due to end in 3 days - 28th August, 2007. The end of the world (or at least the internet) really is nigh.
The site currently has just under 16,000 links pointing at it which is not amazing, but shouldn’t be sniffed at either; especially when you realise that over 100 of those are from the very powerful .edu domains, and one is from a .gov. We’d be very surprised if some clever so & so didn’t buy up the registration if the owner doesn’t renew it before it lapses.
We’re just hoping that whoever it is decides to build a restaurant on it.

Most interesting thing is that the wee guy who did this has made the pafge completely orphaned in his website. He has all of this link power going into a sub page of his site - even sticking a link to his homepage on it would give his whole site a quick boost and an shifty up the search engines would be just around the corner
I guess that’s the whole point - if it linked to anywhere else, it wouldn’t be the end…
