Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, MSN & MySpace: Everything’s Connected In Web 2.0
One of things I love about the internet is the fact that I am constantly finding new sites that I love and also, that I am constantly challenged, and often proved wrong.
I’ve been telling anyone who would listen (following a conversation with my colleague Chungaiz) that Facebook would be sold this year for $1 billion. Now the internet gossip is that this could be closer to $7 billion (£3.5 billion), with both Google & MSN named as potential purchasers.
My new favourite blog, Publishing 2.0, has a great post on all the possible permutations of this deal, with regards to how it would effect Google’s relationship with MySpace, and whether that would drive Murdoch to link his social networking site with Yahoo!
At the same time, the VC Ratings Deal Blog suggests that the only sensible match would be for Microsoft to buy Facebook, based on the fact that they have utterly failed in creating social networks & they’re not exactly short of cash. How this will all end, no-one really knows, apart from Mark Zuckerburg of course - and he’s not likely to tell, even if you poke him.
