180 Solutions have lost the plot by suing PC Tools
It’s been reported that Zango (formally known as 180 solutions) have filled a lawsuit against Spyware Doctor owners PC Tools. Apparently they are a little frustrated that the Spyware removal program, shipped free with Google Pack, is removing their application without first warning the user and are claiming millions in damages for it (though PC Tools and its users claim that this is not the case).
Let’s go back in time a few years and look at the history of 180 Solutions. Ben Edelman wrote an article back in 2004 on the effect of 180 Solutions on Affiliate commissions which shows how the firm essential stole the revenue from affiliates; maybe they should count themselves lucky that they didn’t have court action taken against them by affiliates.
Zango recently settled in a case bought against them by the FTC for $3m – substantial less than they turnover for the year (which is estimated at over $30m) and it’s been suggested that they are yet to give up on their Spyware habits despite trying to re-align their image.
I’m sure I speak on behalf of the rest of the team here at eyefall to wish PC Tools every luck against Zango in court – however I’m sure that we’ll still be stuck with them for years to come.

Thanks for that we’ve now updated that. We try to take great care over punctuation, but some do slip through.
Another reason for us to go back to one of my favourite ever posts on blogging I guess - Five Grammatical Errors That Make You Look Dumb on the wonderful copyblogger.
Thanks for bringing that to our attention.
Zango, as you point out, have been stealing commissions from affiliates for years. I hope that there is justice and PC Tools wins their court case.
