When does an Affiliate program become an Affiliate program? Ask Yell.com
It was in the news this week that Yell.com has introduced what they call an “Affiliate” scheme for webmasters.
According to their press release? it is “designed to provide participating sites with access to its database of more than two million UK businesses”.
Now for the downside - the affiliate scheme doesn’t actually offer any money to affiliates. With over 500 companies apparently signed up to the free program they will be looking at offering a fixed monthly payment for high traffic sites.
It really seems like this is a missed opportunity for yell.com – I fail to see the benefits of displaying a banner for a free service and if they are serious about driving traffic though affiliate marketing then they really should think about paying for it – defining it as an affiliate program in its current state is stretching the imagination somewhat.
If anyone from Yell.com is reading then you should get in touch about how to setup a successful paying program that will help to meet your targets and objectives!
