Middleman
ReviewMe is a service that positions itself as a middleman between bloggers and advertisers. Brand owners can pay bloggers to review their sites, products etc.
I appreciate that a lot of blogs are major going concerns with a commercial angle. I’m also aware of the way we might try and influence blogs, albeit subtly through simply suplying products to review. However to me this goes against the whole ethos of small personal blogs.
While being paid to review something is no guarantee of positive coverage, the cash is bound to affect impartiality. But above all the agenda gets set by the advertisers not the bloggers.
I may be wrong (I often am) but I can’t imagine that people won’t see through this and have the same level of cynicism for bloggers in the pay of advertisers as the advertisers themselves. Especially when the Bloggers can hawk their services with such subtle graphics as those above!
