Back in Venice
When I got back from last November’s company trip to Venice, I said to Mrs G that I would take her back. Next thing I know, she’s booked the tickets.
So this weekend, I went back.
What did I discover?
- Harry’s Bar is a tourist trap with over-priced drinks.
- Venice is eerie in thick fog.
- Gondoliers will negotiate.
- There are still too many tourists (including me).
- Empire of Light is still the one painting I wish I had painted.
If you do get to Venice, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection is quite simply a must see.
