Mouse on the musical pulse?

Ever feel like you aren’t really up with what the kids are listening to? Well, as 30 disappears far behind me and 40 approaches fast on the horizon, I definitely have my moments of feeling out of touch with the ever changing musical landscape.

Sites like Last.fm have their uses, I get to see what friends are listening to and when I hear something I like in the studio I rush to our profile to see what it is. iTunes now has its ‘just for you’ feature which learns what you do and don’t like. But I don’t get an idea of what else is out and gaining momentum.

Well I recently stumbled on The hype Machine. It’s a great site that basically acts as a window on the music blogosphere showing you what artists and tracks are being talked about while also allowing you to listen to them in full, inspiring you and finally linking you to iTunes and Amazon to buy.

Maybe now I can keep up with all those hip new media types in the studio.

Thought the only music you listened to these days was on the X-Factor!

Funny you should say that, I saw that Eton Road bunch walking up Euston Road outside the British Library yesterday. They were pulling their cases behind them looking a bit glum. Maybe old Louis Walsh didn’t come through with that record contract…
