It's our business to deliver yours

Or so say TNT. Well, it’s this guy’s business to tool around the canals of one of the world’s most gorgeous cities in the courier’s equivalent of a Sunseeker 50. The only fly in the ointment? His arch nemesis, the FedEx guy, has a very similar looking boat, though it’s not quite as cool in FedEx colours. We didn’t spot the UPS boat, but just like their land-based equivalents, it’s a funny-looking thing. At least the guy’s not sitting up front in a barber’s chair.

Strange moment. Sat in a restaurant next to the Grand Canal, TNT boat buzzes past: ‘Wow, wonder if FedEx have got one too?’ two minutes later there it is.

Ah! I was wondering about that. Did anyone see a water ambulance or similar?

we saw a fire engine. My kids would have loved it. Fire was always a really big problem in Venice because of the way the buildings are all packed in. that’s why the glass production takes place on another island, so stray sparks didn’t burn the whole place down!
